Elizabeth (Betsy) Ross

Founder and president of Limos for Learning™, Betsy Ross is a pharmacy owner and a vested member of the SCPhA. For years she witnessed patients wrestling with the consequences of illiteracy, “a social disease of staggering proportions,” she explains. Observing how young people are motivated by “Hollywood” people and lifestyles of the rich and famous, Betsy launched “Limos” as a means to motivate them by rewarding them for working hard to improve their reading skills. Since its inception, almost 20,000 South Carolina 3rd graders have participated! And it’s no wonder Limos for Learning™ is on the State’s official “Angels List” – with less than 5% of the funding going to administrative costs.
